  • NOIZ

    1993

This should be their first release ever. A demo cassette from 1993 which was either sold at a concert or distributed among i.e. friends.

There is to date no information available anywhere about this release apart from a potential year of release and the title. Time will tell if a copy and further details ever surface.

  • 狂気

This is possibly their second release. Another demo cassette which was supposedly released in December 1994 and either available at a gig or distributed among friends.

As with the previous release, there is to date no information available anywhere about this release apart from a potential year of release and the title. Time will tell if a copy and further details ever surface.

  • CRAZY FUCK

    September, 1995

This is an early demo cassette tape which was presumably released in late 1995. They were just called NOIZ and the band featured the following members:

    • TAKASHI (who became Angel-TAKA) on vocals
    • TAKAYA on guitar
    • AKIRA on bass
    • SATOSHI (who became S@TT-ON) on drums and acoustic guitar

The music is rough punk, hard rock and sometimes a bit experimental.

The song マネキン, track 8, was later re-recorded and released on their debut mini-album Imitation PoPs.

This cassette was released with a folded lyrics sheet. The sleeve itself was printed on high quality photo paper. When or where it was released remains unknown. Most websites cite 1996 as the date of release, others September 1st 1995. The type of cassette used for this release was released in Japan in 1994 so the earliest release date is 1994.

I furthermore do not know if it was issued at a concert (which I doubt) or if it was more like a private pressing for friends and relatives. The number of copies is however very low. Total running time is approximately 35 minutes.

  • ピエロ

Another rare and early demo cassette which features just two songs. No further information is known about it unfortunately, although a few copies have been for sale in the past 10 years.

The release date is again unknown, but based on information from other websites.

ピエロ might be a different recording when compared to the one on G・O・D.

  • G・O・D

    1997

An early demo cassette, presumably from the late 90’s as the type of cassette used for this release was released in Japan in 1997.

ピエロ was initially released in February 1997. It is unknown if it is a different version.

FINE DAY was later released (in a re-recorded form) on their 1999 album Imitation PoPs.

Imitation was later released (and re-recorded) twice on CD during two different gigs.

The band had gone through a line-up change when compared to the period when they released CRAZY FUCK as the band featured the following members:

    • TAKASHI on vocals
    • TAKAYA on guitar
    • TAKESHI on guitar
    • MANAV on bass
    • SATOSHI on drums

MANAV and TAKAYA would later be replaced by 叫 on bass and MASATO on guitar to complete the initial line-up which would last until March 2009.

This cassette was released with a folded double-sided info and lyrics sheet (images 2-4). It is interesting to note that the name Imitation PoPs NOIZ is mentioned on the back of the insert and just Imitation PoPs as part of the inquiries section. They seem to have been toying with this name for a long time until they started to use it in 2001.

  • TYPE-N

This single was released when they were still called Imitation PoPs NOIZ. In order to promote their music they sold (or gave away?) CDr’s with music on it during a few concerts in 2001 and 2002. The sleeve was a simple print on glossy paper and it did not come with an obi.

It features an early version of TYPE-N which later evolved into Typ;N on their second album. The song room was never released on a commercial album or single. It was however re-recorded for a 2002 CDr. The version on this 2001 CDr is more or less a ballad which only features vocals and piano.

  • マネキン

This was only released in August 2002 with a printed color sleeve.

マネキン was initially released on CRAZY FUCK in 1995 and again in 1999 on Imitation PoPs. The version on this disc is another new recording featuring lyrics.

Type N was initially released as Type-N in 2001 and then again as Typ;N in 2003. Type N and Type-N are expected to be the same version.

  • CROSS

A CDr release that was sold or given away on the 23rd of August 2002 at a concert. The sleeve was a simple print on normal paper.

CROSS was initially released on their 1999 debut album Imitation PoPs. The version on this CDr is significantly different and includes a longer intro with piano. The production is also in the same style as their 2003 album.

Imitation, the second track, was initially released on their 1997 cassette G・O・D. It was reworked for this 2002 release and was the lead track on another concert CDr five days later. The version on this August 23rd CDr is the same as the one released five days later.

Imitation was initially released on their 1997 cassette G・O・D and again on a 2002 CDr, five days prior to this August 28th release. The version on the 23rd and 28th of August CDr’s are the same.

イグニッション is an early version of Igni+ioN which later appeared on the January 2003 CD single and again on their second album in August 2003. All three recordings are different.

The band was arguably productive as they released another CDr one day after the previous one. This release therefore has very similar artwork (black vs blue).
