  • Coming 2010

Between November 2009 and March 2010

The older the releases get, the less we know about them. This one was probably released between November 2009 and March 2010 during their Moshi Moshi period because the artwork is similar to their second single. It however remains a wild guess.

The reason why this was released is unknown as well. Mirrors’ band manager once revealed on Facebook that there should be a disc that was given away during some of their early concerts. Could Coming 2010 be that disc?

    CD release

    Cat. nbr.: unknownnone

    Track listing:

    1. Somewhere Strange (Demo)
    2. Look At Me (Pure Groove Version)
    3. Write Through The Night (Organ Song Press Version 3)

This release is interesting as it features two versions that are only on this disc, being tracks 1 and 3.

The tag for track 3, Organ Song Press Version 3, is not mentioned on the disc or the sticker, but was displayed as such when extracting the disc with iTunes. The band released a similar, but shorter (4:13 vs 4:26), demo version called Organ Song on the internet in October 2009.

The CD comes in a clear plastic stickered sleeve.

  • Remixes

    March, 2010

This is very likely the first physical product that was created by Skint Records for Mirrors. It’s a three track promotional CD with two remixes and a cover version. The release date is a guess, as not much is known about this release. There are however some reports on the internet which claim that a remix EP was ‘soon to be released’ in March 2010.

    CD release

    Track listing:

    1. Look At Me (Laura Cantrell Cover Version)
    2. Lights And Offerings (Belbury Poly Mix)
    3. Into The Heart (Jonathan Kreinik Mix)

It comes in a clear plastic sleeve with a printed insert.

    Withdrawn CD release

Cat. nbr.: Skint Records – none

    Track listing:

    1. Look At Me (Laura Cantrell Cover Version)
    2. Somewhere Strange (Kyle Hall Mix)
    3. Lights And Offerings (Belbury Poly Mix)
    4. Somewhere Strange (Dark Sky Mix)
    5. Into The Heart (Jonathan Kreinik Mix)

The initial idea was to release a five track promo. Two remixes were however not approved and the band asked the label to remove the remixes from the release.

  • Farm Mirrs

    June, 2010

This is the real deal. A demo disc that was taken straight off the mixing desk after the band laid down the first few songs during their first album session in June 2010 at The Farm studio, Chiddingfold, Surrey, UK.

    In-house demo CDr

    Cat. nbr.: self-releasednone

    Track listing:

    1. Ways To An End v1.0
    2. Into The Heart v1.0
    3. Look At Me v1.0
    4. Write Through The Night v1.0
    5. Perfectly Still v1.1

This disc was made for in-house usage only and not meant for the public or radio stations. This is possibly the only copy.

A sleeve was quickly made by printing something out of iTunes and then cut to fit inside a plastic sleeve.

The first four tracks have many similarities with the released album versions, though Perfectly Still sounds completely different.

farm mirrs sounds like farmers, anyone? A nice reference to the studio they were using at the time.

The CD and artwork come in a clear plastic sleeve.

  • Mirrors Film Challenge

An odd release. If you can call this a release that is. This data disc was sent out to people who wanted to create a short film for Mirrors their music. The films had to be submitted no later then September 5th 2010 and were screened on September 8th at ‘Madame Geisha’ (a bar in Brighton, England). I’ve been told that the band was not that impressed with the results…

  • Live In Hamburg

To promote their debut album, a live CD was created featuring their November 2010 performance as a support act for OMD in Hamburg, Germany.

Two different versions were made. The first one was released in January 2011 by a Greek record label, whereas the second was given away as a content price in March 2011 through Facebook.

    Greek CD release

    Cat. nbr.: Undo – LiveCDUN31

    Track listing:

    1. Intro (Live in Hamburg)
    2. Fear Of Drowning (Live in Hamburg)
    3. Ways To An End (Live in Hamburg)
    4. Write Through The Night (Live in Hamburg)
    5. Into The Heart (Live in Hamburg)
    6. Searching In The Wilderness (Live in Hamburg)
    7. Hide And Seek (Live in Hamburg)

This is the Greek CD edition which comes in a plastic sleeve with printed artwork and a folded A4 press release. 25 copies were according to the label made.

    Contest CD release

Cat. nbr.: Skint Records – none

    Track listing:

    1. Intro (Live in Hamburg)

    6. Searching In The Wilderness (Live in Hamburg)
    7. Hide And Seek (Live in Hamburg)

The band held a contest on Facebook in late March 2011 which gave 10 people the chance to win this promotional CD (plus a signed Broken By Silence CD) featuring the same audio contents as the Greek live CD. They held another contest as of mid-May 2011 on Twitter (now X) to win some more copies (5-10).

Unlike the Greek edition, this one comes in a custom made die-cut cardboard sleeve and without a press release.

  • Fear Of Drowning/Look At Me

    Between March and June 2011

An unusual promotional CD, supposedly made for the German market.

I say unusual, because it features Fear Of Drowning which was never slated for a single release, although a video was made for the digital iTunes LP. Maybe the band or label were unsure to release Fear Of Drowning or Look At Me as a single at the time and thus put both on this CD. In the end Look At Me became the next single in June 2011.

The suggested release date is a wild guess, but based on the informational sticker on the artwork (as can be found on Discogs), the March-June 2011 date seems plausible.

    CD release

Cat. nbr.: [PIAS] Germany – none

    Track listing:

    1. Fear Of Drowning

The CD appears to come in a custom cardboard sleeve with a sticker applied on the front, featuring information in German about Mirrors’ latest activities.

  • Free Mirrors Facebook EP

The band shared a free download through Facebook in 2011. I could not find the exact date, though the files are all dated with 18 April 2011.

The download came as a zip file with five 128kbps MP3 files and a TIF image, being the promotional photo used in the Lights And Offerings promotional box set.
