Highlighting unknown, obscure or simply excellent musicians

A small personal website with the aim to share detailed release information for a number of artists, but also to highlight some items from my collection

Previous Stuff

  • Another release which I never added until today: Mumm-Ra’s Technicolour which was a digital single, released in April 2013 through good old BandCamp.

  • We can expect a new digital EP from Lovelife as of February 4th. You can check the details and the artwork over here! The EP will be called Feel and is going to feature four recordings.

  • Here we go, the first update for 2014 which is for Lovelife. I’ve made scans of their latest 10″ EP called Stateless tonight including the regular (but limited) commercial release plus a white label test pressing (probably limited to 5 copies). Enjoy!

  • Two miscellaneous releases for Lovelife tonight! The first one was a CD EP issued in April this year called MMXIII and was for sale during a short US tour. The second release was released only one month later on lovely vinyl, being a split 7″ with The Neighbourhood with the tracks West Coast/Every Minute.

  • 宇宙戦隊NOIZ released their latest single called ライカ two days ago in Japan which is the last single of their five month single campaign. The best was probably kept for last since this is arguably the best of the five singles. It once again comes as two different editions, each one containing a DVD. The big question now is: what’s next? Can we maybe expect an album anytime soon?

  • I already got this item somewhere last week, but didn’t felt like scanning and updating the website until now. This is a promotional CD copy of Lovelife’s latest EP Stateless. Besides the unique radio edit that can be found on the disc it also comes in a slightly alternate sleeve!

    Queen US shop display

Queen were on a roll during the early 80’s. They had a massive hit under their belt with the album The Game in 1980 and released a nice soundtrack album a few months later for Flash Gordon. In November 1981 they released their first compilation album called Greatest Hits, featuring most of their singles. It became an instant success and has to date sold over 25 million copies world wide!

In order to promote the album, some nice marketing items were made including, but not limited to, posters and promotional copies of the album itself. Besides those items, the US had a mobile shop display which is featured in the photo. It measures 37x37cm/14.5×14.5in in size and the logo, album title and group photo are cut out and tied together with some strings. This allows the outer edge to move and rotate separately from the two inner parts, making a nice effect when in motion.

A lot of copies were returned or binned after the promotional period ended, making this a hard to find item these days. In fact, this is arguably true for most shop displays so grab it if you find one!
